
Civil War – 650,000 from both sides
WW I – 116,000 killed or died from the influenza epidemic, with 3,350 never found.
WWII – Over 407,000 American soldiers and sailors were killed, with over 671,000 wounded, plus an additional 11,000 Merchant Marines killed; 30,314 MIA.
Korea – Over 55,000 Americans were killed, and almost 8,000 soldiers are still unaccounted for (MIA).
Vietnam – Over 58,000 Americans were killed, and almost 1,600 are still unaccounted for (MIA).
Afghanistan – Over 2,300 have been killed so far, but numbers of MIA are unclear. Government records are not readily available on that statistic.
Gulf War (Iraq, Syria) – Nearly 5,000 have been killed so far, and almost 50 are still unaccounted for (MIA).
