Banner Notes

The banner above features distinctive photographs from Central Europe. From left to right:

The Roadside Crucifix at the entrance to the village of Mariapocs, Hungary. This is the work of Father Gabor Janka, pastor in Kazincbarcika.

The magnificent iconostas is in a new village church of the Eparchy of Mukachevo, Trans-Carpathian Oblast, Ukraine. This is territory served by the Mission Society of which I am the chaplain.

The icon is the Miraculous Icon in the basilica at Mariapocs. This icon has wept human tears twice, the last time being in 1905. Tears came down the face of the icon despite freezing temperatures.

Last is one of my heroes, Blessed Theodore Romzha, martyred in 1947 and beatified in 2001. He stood firmly for the truth and for a united Catholic Church.

It is hard for me to travel now, but these places and Bishop Romzha all figure deeply in my personal life. Enjoy the images!
